[Hated trope] Movies get hated for depicting something immoral, even when they clearly portray it as immoral

Zero Dark Thirty: The interesting part is that the torture in Zero Dark Thirty takes place primarily with one subject, one terrorist, and the movie shows that despite the torture, he doesn’t give up the information. Later, they lie to him and tell him that he already gave them the information. Because he’s been sleep-deprived, he can’t even remember whether he actually gave it to them. They reward him with a fancy meal and a pat on the back, and that’s when he actually gives them the information that eventually leads to the capture of Osama bin Laden. It also shows the same CIA officer taking care of caged monkeys. He feels genuinely upset when the monkeys disappear or are allegedly killed, which shows how twisted his relationship with the detainees has become. Even another character remarks on it “you agency guys are twisted”.
Munich - Munich is often touted as a movie that glorifies Mossad, but the movie makes it pretty clear that the actions of the agency aren’t necessarily being glorified. There are scenes where Mossad agents end up staying with Palestinians, and the Palestinian factions talk about how, at least, they have a home to go back to. There’s also the way Mossad agents kill and leave the naked body of the female assassin exposed. The scene makes it clear that they’ve crossed a moral line, something the movie reinforces later through dialogue and other scenes. Not to forget the guilt and PTSD that consumes agent Avner.
